Adjustments

Patient write-offs, credits, finance charges. Per OpenDental API.

What are Adjustments in OpenDental?

Adjustments modify patient balances—write-offs (negative AdjAmt), finance charges (positive), discounts, credits, etc. Each adjustment uses an AdjType from Definitions Category=1; ItemValue "+" or "-" dictates the sign of AdjAmt. Optionally attach to a procedure via ProcNum. Adjustments affect the patient's account and can be paid via Payments; allocations appear in PaySplits. Can be included in PayPlans (adjNums) when creating dynamic payment plans.
