Payment splits allocate payments to procedures and adjustments. Created when payments are made. Per OpenDental API.

What are PaySplits in OpenDental?

PaySplits link a Payment (patient payment) to procedures or adjustments. Each PaySplit has a SplitAmt applied to either a ProcNum or AdjNum. When you create a Payment, OpenDental automatically creates PaySplits based on allocation preferences (FIFO, procedure-targeted, etc.). PaySplits are read-heavy—only ProvNum and ClinicNum can be updated via API. Use PaySplits to see how each payment was allocated across the patient's charges.
